Starts off well
From Glenn of Manassas, Virginia on .
I ordered this online, based on Markus Reuters interview in Guitar Player. The first tune is solid and what i expected to here. It doesn't maintain that quality past the first tune. Sadly, some of the spoken word is embarassing. There isn't much real playing to hear (this isn't Crimson).
AND the worse thing for me is the drumming.
It slaps and bangs and bongs, with little groove or taste. The drums over power much of the subtle things. The drums sounds don't even fit the music for much of the cd. Its as if Pat is going tribal while Markus is playing avant garde things.
This is some of the worst drumming from a superior player i have ever heard.
I listened several times before i lost interest.
The first tune is very interesting and expected from someone using tonal systems to write.
Maybe I am being to harsh. It is a fair recording, but i expected some really great 12 tone/free tonal music with a Bruford like percussion. Not here.
I keep listening to it on and on
From Jorge Souto of Valladolid, Spain on .
This CD doesn't just stand many plays; it gets better each time you play it. You don't get pieces like 11/11 every year...
Top 3 CD this year
From Jim Keyerleber of Rocky River, Ohio on .
This was not a suprise these two great artists would put out a solid cd. The suprise was how good and different this cd stands up to many plays and my moods very well.
Markus is unreal and Pat is a drummers drummer. I can not wait for what they do next but Please buy this and enjoy for years to come!
