Described at the time as "an uncanny masterpiece" by Pete Townshend, the album has achieved legendary status over the years. It is the only studio document of an extraordinary year in the life of King Crimson; a year that began with the group's first rehearsals on January 13th, included a residency at the Marquee Club, a concert in Hyde Park with The Rolling Stones, the recording and release of the album and ended with the dissolution of the lineup at the close of Crimson's first American tour in December.
In the 40 years since its release 'In The Court of the Crimson King' has never been out of print or unavailable in any of the world's main music markets & continues to enjoy consistently high sales.

Too much compression and computer tweaking. The record sound totally artificial. No dynamics and subtleties - it just screams at you.
Historic Indeed

After the first listen I had to sit back and digest what I had just heard. Next was reading the liner notes (another beautiful experience in itself), then it hits you (me). Trust me - get this immediately. No matter the 427th re master or how many times they enhance 'em (i sometimes feel it is a marketing scam!)This ONE is THE one! I don't know, maybe its because I love these guys so much or maybe its just that it was the most incredible album covers ever, whatever! I feel as though this might be the greatest music and album ever really made in my short 53 years (I believe it was given to me at Christmastime same year it came out)and I have just never, ever got tired of it. Even as a young boy, I sat this album alone away from the 2000 others I had. It just demanded preferential treatment in every way. It is so exciting that they are giving Lizard the same treatment. That really is my 2nd favorite. Thanks Robert and guys. Thank you, thank you...
