Smooth and Clean
From Mark van Kempen of Amsterdam, Netherlands on .
Well played, but somewhat stilted. Not nearly as hot as the first night at the Zoom Club or the Denver gig at the end of the year.
Sound: a good mono board mix, although the louder stuff (212CSM and PoaC) suffers from a poor mix, with drums and bass too far in the back. Still, the other tracks make for a civilised, quite enjoyable listen.
WOW
From John Buchanan of Baldivis, Australia on .
What a surprise! Great sounding mostly mono recording. I'm loving the little surprises in this performance - the recorded (?mellotron?) cheer in Cirkus - as well as the fantastic playing.
This really is an essential purchase.
Sailors 'Birdman' Tale
From Werner of The Hague, Netherlands on .
2nd try to submit a comment.. It took a while to detect that there is the 'nicer' part of the Birdman Suite is embedded in Sailors Tale. It is interesting to hear how things come together. It made me smile. This version is very interesting because it is different. The comments concerning the Improv attracted my attention. As they did not find a specific name for this it is what it is, soli following each other. Worth listening.
Lark's rising
From Keeves O'Sullivan of Horsham, England on .
Here is a rare jewel indeed – a pristine quality performance from the 1971 era band, from a venue key to the history of King Crimson. To augment the fine sound quality, the band are in terrific form delivering some stand out classics, from the blasts of Schizoid Man and Pictures of a City, to superb and melodic out – Cadence and Cascade (with a fantastic guitar outro) and Formentera Lady. For me the highlight is the Improv, a massive improvement from the Weird Person’s version which is unlistenable by any standards. Here we have a missing link between the instrumental sections of Moonchild, through to Groon and into Lark’s Tongues Part One, and so providing a linear pattern linking the two bands – like some Pyrenean Neolithic cave drawing this beasty instrumental is similarly priceless, historically intriguing and indeed a terrific find...and for three reasons. Thank you for that!
Great sound and a strong performance
From dhughes53 of Atlanta, Georgia on .
I had this cranked in my car today and really enjoyed it. The version of Schizoid Man may be the best post-1969 version I've yet heard. Pictures of a City, Circus, Sailor's Tale and Ladies of the Road are intense. I love the sound/tone on Robert Fripp's guitar. Mel Collins is playing great as always. The small audience lucky to have been there saw a great show. Thanks for making this one available to the rest of us.
Very Good

KC Marquee 1971-08-10
Everybody listen and buy this concert: line up Robert, Mel, Ian and Bozz.
The recordings are superb and clear. The first half of the Impov. is pure jazz. Mel is blowing his ceiling off...
This is not only very good musicianship but I realize while listening to these recordings, that this line up is:
1.the most powerful and fierce,
2.the most jazzy and the most swinging and grooving improvising units of all KC line ups,
3.and most important: the most not-dated sound of all line ups up to the 90’s....
For me: this is the one.......
