One of their very best live discs
From DocBobster of El Cerrito, California on .
I read the reviews before I bought this and was a bit skeptical, but this really is astonishing -- excellent recording and a smoking and very fun performance. I have dozens of live KC recordings, and I'd rank this one on a par with "Night Watch" and "Absent Lovers."
The best recording of KCCC
From InKeun KWON of Elmwood Park, New Jersey on .
It is probably the best KCCC recording so far.
I do not have many KCCC but I'm sure though.
It cannot be compared to any regular studio albums of KC in terms of energy and dynamic rendition. Most of songs are more powerful than originals taken example Level Five, Elektrik, etc.
Recommand it!
Beautiful Recoding of a band on FIRE!!!
From Anonymous of Horsham, Pennsylvania on .
The best sounding of the Collector's Editions I have heard and the boys are hitting on all cylinders. Don't hesitate to pick this jem up I just wish I was there...WOW!!!!
Thick, Punishing, Pounding Thrusts of Pulverizing Power
From Matthu Stull of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on .
Yes, the ravaging power is blistering me up, i'm headbanging in a cabin in New Hampshire....is this Level Five solo really this bitchin'??? Belew just slays it, but the band behind him is full stampede mode bruising up the air with this stuff, just a lethal storm of throbbing intensity....and the sound of TCOL is quite also solid and hearty thick like, clear but almost like an extra element of bass is in there on the guitar parts, maybe just the EQ mix.....certainly the best intro to Elektrik i've heard...and actually the whole thing has a great cosmic surgical steadiness, like serious everyday business continues in the Intergalactic Crim-Craft as it plunges northwest into deep space amid nebulas forgotten by time.....Gunn and Mastelotto just rip up "Happy with.." , it's almost a wonder the song stays together, cause the rhythms are all like undulating and morph shifting in lovely time-contortions...again Belew slithers it up on a great solo...power to believe 2 wasone track i was especially looking forward to experiencing as a 3rd being food,,,for that special Fripp zone on the solo, where this time, I was taken to a completely different futuristic cave just east of Bokhara, totally hidden in space though, of course, behind the QuazarVortex in outer Fifth Quadrant.........oh shoot, i've got to go...the bottom line is, this show blew my pulpy mess of a mind quite a little bit, just scrape together the money and buy it....like, i didn't have the money so i found these little chunks of concrete and sold it to some kids...i told them it was parts of ancient Pompeii
Best live show at DGM so far
From Eric Sorensen of Bossier City, Louisiana on .
My favorite of all the DGM live recordings yet. Best sound quality, best performance - a real jem. I wonder if a full tour in 2008 would have produced this qualtiy of a show if it they had continued playing dates...
live in new haven
From Anonymous of middletown, New York on .
I will have to go on record as saying the latest KCCC release is probably the best yet and i have all of them. The band is Burning with a capital B! The sound quality is killer. If you are a crimhead this is an absolute must have. Don't think twice, order it now!!!
Sonic Masterpiece
From Greg Hamby of Norwich, Connecticut on .
Standing against the stage directly between Mr. Belew and Mr. Fripp in this small club was a night never expected, and never to be forgotten. The sound and experience were in 2 words overwhelmingly wonderful. Since that evening my friends and I have repeatedly remembered that night and said, "Don't you wish that....." Some wishes do come true.
never thought I'd see the day
From Bobby C. of Wallingford, Connecticut on .
Can't wait to get my hands on this show! What a way to end the U.S. tour - a white-hot show in my hometown with a trivia question from Mr. Fripp himself. Definitely an "uh-oh" moment, as he approached the microphone, we all thought we were screwed - "Who took a picture?", "Who is smoking?" Imagine our surprise. My only question is, once this show becomes the all-time best seller in DGM history, will Mr. Fripp speak at all future KC shows? Hee hee hee, ha ha ha ...
...he spoke!!
From Robert Nelson of Wallingford, Connecticut on .
This was a great show and was the first that I had ever heard Fripp speak.
Toads Pace Review
From Anonymous of Marlborough, Connecticut on .
Cramped on the tiny Toad's stage, Trey had barely enough room to maneuver. This is one on the few shows I saw where all the boys were in top form. Lots of grinning on stage throughout the show. Adrian looking very relaxed and healthy and showed some range restored to his voice that seemed to gone during the last few shows I saw.
Toad's place is a fairly small venue located near the Yale campus and the crowd was a curious mix of geezers and students. Adrian joked about playing to a wedding and wanted to know which 2 guys were getting married.
During Happy, balloons were being bounced in the air by the audience and coming real close to Adrian and Robert. Robert seemed to be taking it in stride. At the end of Happy, Adrian held up a bra which landed on the stage and presented it to Robert.
Some highlights: Level 5 pinned the audience. Fripp cut loose on the Facts of Life with an intensity I had not heard since the eighties. Several Adrian solos were mind-blowing - Level 5, Happy, LTIA. Deception of the Thrush had very extended mellow ending. At the end of Red, a lighting effect imitated many flash bulbs going off and Adrian held his guitar up in a Kodak moment pose. Fripp seemed amused. I think a few real flashes occurred as well but no crisis ensued.
Adrian thanked the audience and announced that it was the end of the US tour. Robert came to the microphone. It was heard to see at this point but I believe he was trying to offer the bra as a prize for answering a Wake of Poseidon trivia question.
All in all, a very memorable show. Although the sound was overpowering at times in the small venue, the performance was outstanding and often surpassed that captured on the DVD.
Amazing Concert!!
From Jeff G. of Enfield, Connecticut on .
This review is more of the concert than the CD, but I can't imagine the CD will disappoint. I've been hoping for this release since the show happened. Easily in the top 5 concerts I've ever attended! I was right up against the rail in front of Robert Fripp, and being able to watch him play from that close was an honor. Adrian wasn't much further away, and it was an honor to see him from that perspective as well. Musically, this is the CoL/PtB lineup at it's finest and fiercest. And the writeup on the order page rings true - you know it's been a hell of a gig when Robert stands up, steps into the spotlight and addresses the audience in a playful manner. Truly, to paraphrase my memory of Adrian's response, "a rare treat." Thank you for releasing this show!!
