After nearly three decades of touring the world, California Guitar Trio’s latest album, ELEGY, was released last month, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time in human history when the global community is more connected than ever.
Mirroring that world-wide connection, ELEGY is a beautifully selected compilation of new, original music by California Guitar Trio, mingled with pieces written by composers they met in their global travels, including Estonia, Argentina, England, Italy, and Canada.
ELEGY features guest appearances by international musicians including the incomparable Tony Levin (New York), Davide Rossi (Copenhagen by way of Turin), and Fabio Mittino (Milan), who also mixed and mastered the album. The album’s “Gaudela Trilogy” was written by California Guitar Trio, and is dedicated to and commissioned by Gouveia Art Rock Festival and Gouveia City Council (Portugal).
Recorded during early 2020 in several Airbnb homes in California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Montreal, Canada, this unique album by this award-winning guitar trio allows the listener a way to escape the harshness of our current reality and immerse in the intricate music played by six hands on 18 strings.
California Guitar Trio is in its 29th year together, and ELEGY is its 17th official release.
